Abstracts submitted to CDC by Madison nurses accepted for national conference.

Two abstracts on best practices on immunizations were submitted to CDC for consideration for the annual National Immunization Conference.  Flo Rice’s abstract was titled “Tdap to Young and Middle-Aged Adults: Education and Administration”. Marlene Dolan’s was titled “Human Papilloma Vaccine: Outreach to the College Student”.  Both were accepted for poster presentation at the conference in Washington DC in March. The abstracts were based on outreach campaigns using large supplies of the ARRA vaccines.

Congratulations Flo and Marlene!


Congratulations to Christine Armenti for being honored as an Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) 2010 Hero of Infection Prevention, one of a 14-member team that formed an organization dedicated to educating new infection preventionists in New Jersey after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention discontinued its infection control education course in 1989. Christine is board certified in Infection Prevention and Control, granted by the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.


Two NJ Nurses Recognized For Public Health Efforts

Congratulations to Joy Spellman for receiving the NJ Governor's Nursing Merit Award. Through this award program, the Governor honors individuals who demonstrate excellence in nursing and recognizes the vital contribution of the nursing profession to our state. Joy was selected as recipient of the Nurse Educator award.
